Happy 60th Birthday to Thor Harris!

The first time I ever saw Thor Harris behind a drum kit with Swans, he was a bare-chested force of nature, hammering the kit like a Viking summoning the apocalypse. I thought, This dude dangerous. When I finally met him—a soft-spoken, a thoughtful guy—and I couldn’t believe that this was the same person. 

In the following years, we’d bump into one another and say, We should do something together sometime, but we never seemed to manage to make it happen. Over a decade later, I saw his group would be opening for my buddy’s band Itchy-O, shot him a text, and the next thing I knew, I was onstage with Thor & Friends—and I never left.
