Unwound Sound is proud to present the highly anticipated Austin debut of master fingerstyle guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Unitarian Universalist Church (4700 Grover Avenue, Austin, TX 78756).

Tsukamoto’s performances are a mesmerizing fusion of intricate fingerstyle guitar and evocative storytelling, weaving lyrical narratives with breathtaking melodies. Hailed for his ability to create an "orchestra at his fingertips," Tsukamoto’s music transcends cultural boundaries, offering audiences a deeply immersive experience filled with emotion and artistry.

The concert will feature a special opening performance by award-winning Austin composer and guitarist Brent Baldwin.

Admission is by freewill offering (suggested donation), with all proceeds benefiting the Austin Sanctuary Network, an organization that supports immigrants fleeing violence and those at risk of deportation.

Unwound Sound presents soundcult & Joey Reyes: a SIMS benefit (AUSTIN TX)

Unwound Sound presents the Eno-inspired outfit soundcult. Featuring a who’s who of Austin art-music veterans — Lyman Hardy (synths), Leila Henley (sax/flute), Thor Harris (percussion) and Brent Baldwin (lap steel and Theremin) — soundcult weaves a rich sonic tapestry which is both accessible and challenging.

Composer/cellist Joey Reyes opens the show with his inspired sounds that the Austin American Statesman calls “simultaneously soothing and supernatural, and absolutely worth witnessing.”

Art projections by Benjamin Crowley. A freewill offering goes to benefit The SIMS Foundation, which provides mental health and substance use recovery services and supports for musicians, music industry professionals, and their dependent family members.
