Bumming Around Berlin

East Side Gallery

Berlin has always held a special place in my heart. Despite being an avid traveler, few cities have ever managed to rival its unique blend of history, culture, and nightlife.

However, my previous visits to Berlin had all been tied to music tours and gigs. As a result, any opportunity for sightseeing or exploration had been limited to the small pockets of time between soundchecks and van rides to the next show.

But this time, things were different. I was working with the Guitar Orchestra of Europe on a concert in Berlin, and I had managed to carve out some solo time at the end of my stay to fully immerse myself in the city's vibrant energy.

I visited iconic landmarks such as the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Museum Island, and the East Side Gallery of the Berlin Wall, marveling at the city's rich history and the resilience of its people. I ate fantastic food, and I even managed to order food in German, despite my less-than-expert-level language skills!

As I wandered the streets, taking in the sights and sounds of Berlin, my love for the city was rekindled. I felt more connected to the place than ever before, and I already can't wait to return.

Whether you're a history buff, a foodie, or a lover of all things art and culture, Berlin has something for everyone. And for me, it will always be one of my favorite cities in the world.
